On April 3, 1979 I was asked by a friend and neighbor if I would accompany her to
church to see just what was going on . She had heard about a group of people who
would go up onto the altar and someone would say something to them and they would
fall down. She said she didn't know what was said and wasn't sure they were falling or
being pushed down. She said someone had told her it was the work of the Holy Spirit.
She said, " Are you going to go up there ? What if you go down, too ?"
I told her I was going to go up there and if I went down, she could believe it was the
work of the Holy Spirit because I wasn't going to be pushed down ! " Here, hold my purse
while I go up . "
How brazen, in retrospect !
The service was offered by Eileen George of the now known, Meet -the -Father Ministry
in Millbury,Ma. I did not know her before this day. She has since been declared
a church mystic in the Catholic Church.
When I stood before her and two others, she asked me what I wanted her to pray for. I said
I wanted her to pray for my unbelief. She said, " You don't believe in God ?" I said that I did
believe in God but I didn't believe in "this stuff. " I did not know that " this stuff " was the work
of the Holy Spirit.
She placed her oiled finger on my forehead and said," I Bless you in the name of the father, and of the son,
and I seal you with the sign of the Holy Spirit. "
Crash ! Down I went and I could not stop saying, " I believe, I believe, I believe,........."
I don't know how long I was down on that altar, or how many times I said, ": I believe " but after
awhile , two people helped me to my feet and I went back to my seat to an astonished friend.
I said, " Are you going to go up now, because you can believe this is true. This is the Holy Spirit
at work. " It scared her and she would not go up and we left the church. Much later, she did
understand it and was blessed.
Eileen George told me to start reading the gospel of John and then Acts and the other books of
the Bible. I had a Bible given to me at confirmation I had tried to read earlier, but it made no sense to me.
I would read but not understand.
I started reading a New Testament and found I could not put it down, It was all so clear and I not only
understood every word but was remembering passages. I was a changed person. I wanted to read only
spiritual books. The problem I had was trying to tell other people about Jesus. They looked at me like
I had a third eye ! And, no one wanted to talk about Jesus. No one I knew wanted to attend Bible
classes. I read everything I could get my hands on about Jesus, his travels, his prophecies. But,
I had no one to tell them to because no one wanted to hear it. I think they thought I had lost my mind.
A Jesus Freak to be sure.
Over the years, I have met very few who would discuss the Bible or Jesus but when I did, I seized upon
the time I could release some of what I knew to be the truth.
The Island Church has been a blessing in disguise for me.
